Sydney Law School - Postgraduate Coursework & Exchange Student Welcome Program (Day 2)

An introduction to Australian legal system and get to know academic culture/standards

Sydney Law School invite all commencing students (compulsory for international students) to participate in a series of academic and student support workshops. The Welcome Program will run over two days and provide commencing students with an introduction to the study of Law at the University of Sydney.
Day 1 - Introduction to Academic Standards and University Services 
Thursday 20 February 2020 from 9.00am - 3.15pm
New Law School Lecture Theatre 101, New Law Building (F10)

All commencing students are invited to attend. Attendance is compulsory for international students.
After a formal welcome to the program, this session will provide students with an overview of university services and important information relating to their studies at Sydney Law School. The day will cover:
•    Essay Writing, Assessment and Avoiding Plagiarism
•    Compliance and Understanding your Visa Conditions (International Students)
•    Learning Centre
•    Student Support Services
•    Law Library and Legal Research
Day 2 - Introduction to the Australian Legal System
Friday 21st February 2020 from 9.00am - 4.30pm
New Law School Lecture Theatre 101, New Law Building (F10)

All commencing students who do not have a law degree from a common law jurisdiction are encouraged to attend.
This session aims to provide insight into the Australian legal system as well as common law and legal method in Australia. 
Please note that students are required to read through preparatory materials before attending this session.
